YWCA Arise is a free shelter for women, gender diverse people and their children fleeing abuse. We offer a safe, caring home and the counselling and support women and gender diverse people need to heal and plan for the future.

Nutritious meals and snacks (we support families with their health and cultural dietary needs)

Assistance applying for a personal needs allowance
Access to clothing bank
Community garden
Warm staff that specialize in the following areas: children and youth, mental health, employment, violence against women, addictions, immigration, trauma, and housing
One-on-one counselling for women, gender diverse individuals and their children
Help to establish a safety plan
Help to find affordable housing
Referrals to lawyers, doctors, and community resources
Accompaniment to appointments if requested
Family-based activities and celebrations
Ongoing support after women and gender diverse individuals leave the shelter
Support in many languages through staff and cultural interpreters
Mandarin, Polish, Hindu, Urdu, Croatian, Slavian, Punjabi, and English.
